I believe a lot amongst us must be thoroughly updated about the latest international trends be it the corset belt, metallic skirt or patch work denim, but when it comes to terms like Kalamkari, Patola and more, many of us are left perplexed!

I nowhere mean to enforce that one has know about Indian handicrafts, it, obviously, is an individual’s choice but according to me the beauty that these products exhibit cannot be surpassed by anything around the world!

I, myself, was not always inclined towards ethnic wear let alone having knowledge about crafts of India, but with passing years watching my mother draping her ethereal Bandhni saree or hunting an ideal block print kurta at emporiums made me fall in love with it. I have made sure that my wardrobe is a balanced with best of both international & Indian outfits.

Coming to this look, I picked this gorgeous cotton Angrakha anarkali suit paired with pure Chanderi dupatta with block-print detailing on it as well as on the pants. The combination of grey & red caught my eye because I had never imagined that such a simple looking piece could look so elegant merely because of its choice of colours.
Wore a pair of Afghani jewellery inspired earrings to complement the attire. Bold red lips, sleek mid-parted hair & hints of silver and grey on the eyes!

The Gota dori added a charm & uniqueness to the kurta & the slits made sure that the polka dotted pants do not get unnoticed!

While few years back it was very difficult for us to lay our hands on these handcrafted products because the only options that we had were to either pick from the limited variety available at the emporiums or shop only when you travel to that particular state but now, The Loom has made it convenient for us all by bringing together products directly from the artisans from all over India under one space! I decided to join hands with them to promote the cultural heritage of India because not only our artisans deserve the appreciation but also, the designs offered here are fresh & out-of-the-box!
